Ekin Bozkurt + Svetlana Maraš

Giovedì 21 aprile abbiamo il piacere di ospitare un doppio live, con le musiciste Ekin Bozkurt e Svetlana Maraš.
In apertura Ekin Bozkurt, artista sonora di origini turche (Istanbul) recentemente trasferitasi a Milano. Ekin usa il suono come strumento narrativo e possibilità di interazione con lo spazio pubblico, l’architettura, il paesaggio unendo nella sua ricerca computer music, sound art, performance e danza.
A seguire Svetlana Maraš, compositrice e artista sonora serba che lavora all’intersezione tra musica sperimentale, sound art e new media. La sua ricerca comprende diversi generi e spazia dalla pratica performativa e concertistica all’arte radiofonica, dalla composizione elettroacustica all’installazione sonora e multimediale.

Svetlana Maraš (1985) is composer and sound artist. She works at the intersection of experimental music and sound art.
Maraš is Professor of Creative Music Technology and Co-head of Electronic Studio at Hochschule für Musik FHNW, Basel. She is the winner of the most prestigious Serbian composition prize “Mokranjac”, awarded by the Serbian Composers’ Association.
From 2016-2021, she was composer in residence and artistic director at Radio Belgrade’s Electronic studio, where she established numerous programs such as artistic residencies, educational courses and most notably, restoration of EMS Synthi 100. During the time at Radio Belgrade, she developed works such as Jezik (shortlisted for Prix Italia award in 2017), Radio Concert No.1 and Radio Concert No.2 – live performances with the use of Synthi 100, as well as Post-excavation activities, the work which has brought her “Mokranjac” prize in 2021.
Maraš has presented her work internationally, at venues, festivals and events such as Ruhr Triennial, CTM (Berlin), Ars Electronica (Linz), House of Electronic Arts (Basel), Ruhr Triennial, Espace Multimedia Gantner (Bourogne), Musikprotokoll (Graz), Heroines of Sound (Berlin), Onassis Cultural Centre (Athens), Museum of Contemporary Art (Belgrade), Ausland (Berlin), Izlog Suvremenog Zvuka (Zagreb), ICMC (New York), International Rostrum of Composers (Wroclaw), ISEA (Dubai), International Music Institute (Darmstadt), Orpheus Institute (Ghent) and many other places. Her music was used in theatre plays, experimental and documentary films, presented at places like MOMA (New York), Aubagne International Film Festival and Bitef theatre (Belgrade).
Svetlana Maraš was SHAPE artist for 2020, and co-curator of 4fakultät concert series in Hamburg.

Ekin Bozkurt is sound/mixed media artist from Istanbul, recently based in Milano. While completing her first studies in urban planning and landscape architecture; worked as translator, public relations assistant and web magazine editor respectively, in Istanbul. In the meantime, she was practicing computer music in her free times and developed interest in sound art. She moved to Barcelona and completed Sound Arts master in Barcelona University. She realized various installations, performances; composed sound pieces with the collaborations of the institutions such as Hangar, Convent de Sant Agusti in Barcelona; Casa degli Artisti, Zona K (with collaboration of Rimini Protokoll) in Milano, Salt in Istanbul. She’s using sound as a complemental storytelling and interaction tool for researching/experimenting creativity and fluidity in public places, city elements, dance movements, cognition of feelings, objects, everyday expressions. I currently live and work in Milano.
