All’interno dell’architettura post-razionalista della Chiesa dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo nel quartiere di Dergano, realizzata dagli architetti milanesi Figini e Pollini, l’artista polacca Zorka Wollny presenta il concerto per coro di improvvisazione radicale “Change Choir”. Il coro diretto dall’artista stessa è formato da un gruppo di partecipanti al workshop realizzato in collaborazione con NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano e aperto a un numero limitato di partecipanti.
Il concerto “Change Choir” ospitato nell’articolazione spaziale minimale e funzionalista della Chiesa, accoglie le intenzioni dei progettisti Figini e Pollini di concepire l’architettura come accadimento, evento irripetibile personale e collettivo.
A partire dalla tematizzazione della rilevanza politica delle pratiche artistiche collettive e partecipate rispetto all’utilizzo sociale delle architetture cittadine e alla loro contaminazione da parte di pratiche artistiche, Zorka Wollny indaga il potenziale riflessivo offerto dall’architettura, dal suono e dall’esperienza dell’ascolto attraverso un processo corale che è in grado di riconfigurare spazi fisici e sociali.
L’appuntamento fa parte della serie OFF-Standards.

ZORKA WOLLNY (1981/PL) creates acoustic compositions for institutions, factories, and empty buildings. Her works inhabit a space between art, theatre and contemporary music, and are always closely connected to the historic and functional context of specific architectural sites. Wollny’s collaborative production style often involves public rehearsals and workshops in which she creates structures of cooperation with individuals as well as groups and communities, such as composers, students, actors and activists.

VOCAL WORKSHOP + CONCERT
Saturday 16th: Workshop 4.00 – 8.00 pm at Standards
Sunday 17th: Rehearsals 4.00 – 6.00 pm + Church Concert: 6.00 pm at Chiesa SS. Giovanni e Paolo
Two days long vocal workshop with the artist and composer Zorka Wollny. Starting from an interest in collective art practices that can have a political acknowledgement, the workshop focuses on abstract sound and improvisation, as well as on the surreal and theatrical potential of the voice. It will be enclosed with the concert open for the public.
We will explore sounds coming from everyday life – as chatting, laughing, mumbling, sighing, humming etc. What is most interesting for us is how such actions, when made by a group of
people change the quality of sound from obvious into indefinable. We only request the basic feeling of rhythm and openness for experiment.
Workshop is especially suitable for actors, dancers and singers but we welcome everyone interested in exploring the potential of human voice.
Participation is free and unpaid.
